My Story

So my amazing Dad is back at it again… and this time, I am joining him too!!!

To raise money for the amazing The Openwork Foundation, we will be challenging ourselves by cycling 380km under very hot and humid conditions in CUBA(!), with temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees. We'll be faced with some steep climbs on a mixture of rocky and main roads, with over 8 hours of cycling on the longest days.

Now I would like to point out, that although my Dad is becoming quite the pro (this will be his 5th cycle challenge!) I, however, am not. I usually like to do my charity challenges on my own two feet, not two wheels! I have not ridden a bike for 20+ years so huge emphasis on the word challenge here! Training is going to be key for me, as it turns out, you can forget how to ride a bike!

So with all that in mind, why this challenge for me?

Well, as I have mentioned, this will be my Dad’s 5th cycle challenge and at the age of 65 he is still willing to keep going. I watch this man put so much hard work, blood, sweat and not sure about the tears (yet) every year, all to raise money for a good cause. His pure determination knows no bounds and he inspires me more every single time… how could I not want to give it a go and share this experience with him?!

We are around 100km into our training and we expect to do around 1,000km of training from now until the challenge and we will keep you updated as to our progress.

So we again ask for your help to raise money for this amazing charity. We would be so grateful for your donations, big or small, as every single £ counts!

Thank you all so much!

Wish us luck!!
